Every year the Swedish Surgical Society organizes an annual meeting called “Kirurgveckan” (Swedish Surgical Week). At this congress Suturion took the opportunity to organize a hands-on workshop to allow surgeons to try the unique technology. The feedback concerning the ease-of-use, ability to facilitate small bite technique and potential time savings was overwhelming. This gives Suturion even stronger confidence to accelerate the launch plans, says Paan Hermansson, CEO of Suturion.
Per J. Nilsson, Associate prof. and Colorectal surgeon, Karolinska, Stockholm and Gabriel Börner, Surgeon and Founder Suturion AB, Helsingborg, facilitated the discussion around abdominal wall closure and the benefits of using the small bite technique to work preventative and try to decrease the rates of complications. Specific attention was made to the high numbers of open procedures that are still done in Sweden and the importance of good closure technique. Colorectal cancer alone represent more than 1500 procedures each year.
The intense conversations at the training stations clearly proved the interest and challenges that surgeons are facing today when closing the abdominal wall. We @suturion are very excited to soon be launching our technology and helping surgeons deliver better results for patients.
